What users need to know before purchasing a RAVEN.

Computer Requirements
- The RAVEN software utilizing many graphical components to recreate the analog "Mix Console"on a touch screen. Users must have a graphics card with 512mb or more of Graphics Card memory for the best mixing experience.
- Since the RAVEN was made to be a super powerful Mixing Console, it is important to have a computer that can handle large mix sessions with plugin processing. We suggest using a computer with an Intel i7 processor and at least 8gb of RAM.
- The RAVEN LCD Display uses HDMI to connect to the computer so it is important to have a spare HDMI or Thunderbolt port on the computer to utilize the RAVEN display. An HMDI to Mini-Display Port may be necessary for the user to connect the display to a newer computer that doesn't have an HMDI port.
- The RAVEN LCD display has a Touch Panel built in that uses USB to control the touch screen. It is important to have a spare USB port on the computer to utilize the touch panel of the RAVEN.
Supported HDMI Connections
To connect the RAVEN HDMI to the computer there are a few options to connect it properly.
- HDMI to HDMI
- HMDI to Mini-Display Port
- HDMI to USB-C
- HDMI to DVI
- HDMI to Display Port
- HDMI to Thunderbolt 3
- HDMI To Cat-5 extender
Some companies do make other connectors, but these are not supported for the RAVEN and may cause graphical latency and inconsistencies. Here is a list of unsupported connections.
- HDMI to USB
- HDMI to VGA
- HDMI to Ethernet
For the best performance and connectivity it is import to use as few converters / connectors as possible. Purchasing the correct cable will save a lot of trouble. So instead of buying a HDMI to HMDI and a HDMI to Mini-Display Port connector, buying the actual HMDI to Mini-Display Port cable will leave less room for error. Going HMDI to Mini-Display Port into a Mini-Display Port to USB-C adapter will not work as there are to many converters being used. Supported USB Connections
To connect the RAVEN USB cable to the computer there are a few options to connect it properly.

- USB to Apple USB-C Multi Port Adapter
- USB to Powered USB Hub
- USB to CAT-5 extender
- USB to Active USB Extender
- USB to Powered Thunderbolt Dock

- Unpowered / Bus powered USB Hub

For the best performance and connectivity it is import to plug the USB in directly to the computer or use a powered USB hub as the Touch screen is powered completely by the USB bus.

Un-Supported Interfaces
The RAVEN software is built to run as a 24 track DAW Controller, this means certain Audio Interfaces that have controllers attached will conflict.
- Digidesign 002/003 interfaces not support on Windows
- Digidesign 002/003 Mixer interface not support on macOS/Windows
- Digidesign Control 24 / C24
- Presonus Universal Control software must have TUIO disabled in settings.
WorkFlow
Using the RAVEN with other DAW Controllers
Since the RAVEN works with V-Control Pro to connect to the DAW, it may not support being used with other DAW Controllers such as the Presonus Faderport / Behringer X-touch / SSL Nucleus. Some DAWs allow the use of multiple controllers such as Steinberg and Presonus, but DAW's like Ableton/Digital Performer/Pro tools will not support multiple control surfaces as the banking and track selections will interfere. The RAVEN will work in conjunction with EUCON controllers as these use different protocols. Please note the metering in the RAVEN External Mixer and RAVEN Floating Mixer will not work as EUCON will "steal" the metering before it can send this data to V-Control Pro.
Setting RAVEN as Main Display (Recommended) but no longer required in RAVEN 3.6 and Later
iMac, MacBook Pro, and users with secondary external displays will have to set the RAVEN display as the main display. The RAVEN Mixers and Batch Commands are expecting the RAVEN to be the Main display, so they will show up on this display by default. The DAW's also prefer to open on the main display, so setting the RAVEN as the main will create a better workflow and experience.

Fitting the RAVEN mixer into your workflow
Since there are no major Multi-Touch DAWs and no native Touch Screen support on macOS, the RAVEN software has to be configured correctly with the DAW for seem less Multi-Touch ability. The main feature of the RAVEN software is the RAVEN Internal Mixer. This mixer brings Multi-Touch functionality to all the major DAWs such as Pro Tools, Logic, and Cubase/Nuendo. In order for the RAVEN Internal Mixer to sync properly with the DAW, users will have to follow a few rules for the mixer setup in the DAW.
- Pro Tools users are only allowed to show 10 inserts at a time in the mixer. Either 5 inserts and 5 sends, or 10 inserts. Batch Commands and Windows Configurations can be used for quickly swapping these inserts.
- Pro Tools "Narrow Mix" mode is not supported for the RAVEN Internal Mixer alignment.
- Logic "Narrow Mix" mode is not support for the RAVEN Internal Mixer alignment.
- Cubase/Nuendo default color scheme required for RAVEN Internal Mixer alignment.
RAVEN Gestures
Batch Gestures are now supported on macOS and Windows in RAVEN 3.7. This allows users to assign any hand gesture to a Batch Command in the DAW.
UPDD Gestures on the RAVEN are only support on macOS as the application used to assign these gestures is based off the macOS TrackPad features. Gestures will work natively on Windows if the software has accounted for them.
