Do I need a monitor controller?

A monitor controller is a very useful tool that can significantly enhance the experience and workflow in any DAW based studio. Many audio interfaces provide little or no monitor control beyond basic volume attenuation.

The Slate Control is not for everyone. The Slate Control is for the recordist, the sound designer, the audio engineer, the musician, or the writer who needs precision monitoring, or, any commercial recording facility with a large format console with a missing (or broken) center section.
